What is an Artist PRESS KIT ?

Part 1 : What is a Press Kit and Why is it Important?

Part 2 : How to make a Press Kit and what are the essential points to be Covered.

A Press kit is a detailed description of : 

1. Your Featured Content - What is the Track/EP/Album about, What is the idea, or motive behind the contents, how it came into being, who all are part of it, and what message it wishes to convey to the listeners, readers or viewers.

2. Yourself as an Artist or ARTIST BIO - All About yourself, your journey, your life story, how you became an artist, your motivation, inspirations etc

3. Upcoming Activities, Events, News Etc (optional) - What are you upto in recent time, performing somewhere, or coming up with more contents, already in production, in collaboration etc.

A Press kit is important mainly for Three Reasons : 

1. It gives a Formal and Professional presentation to Journalists, Media Publishers and Promoters. It Makes their work easy because if they get a full detailed crisp presentation they can immediately work towards publishing the contents after proof Reading.

2. There are Least chances of misinformation or accidental/deliberate omission of Important information from the publishers part if you provide a full kit with complete information. Some Journalists conduct interviews before publishing and use information gathered in the interview which at times is inaccurate, not apt  or incomplete.

3. Professional Identity code is created amongst the Professional network. For example your Press kit may travel from a journalists desk to an event management company or a client. You will never know. So its advised to Work on the Press kit keeping in mind the kind of impression you wish to derive in other's minds.
